As we prep for JUA, everyone is honing their essential questions down to a fine point. Each student will post their second draft as a separate post. Other students can comment on them individually.

Why are the Iraqis resisting an oppertunity of stability after a three year war in their country and an even longer regime of terror? What kinds of people are fighting against the United States? Conservative Iraqis who have prospered under Saddam's reign, or true religious matyrs.

With major differences and growing tensions between American and Middle Eastern societies, how does American entertainment affect the way that middle easterners view our country?

Since 9/11, we have been on the offensive against terrorism. With the action that the United States has taken in Iraq, have we assumed the role of a bully and given the people of Iraq a war they do not want?

Since the emergence of the Middle East as a group of countries engulfed in conflict and hate, the western world has played a part in the slow deterioration of this barren region. Some residents of this area blame us, others blame their leaders. Here in the United States the opinions vary similarly. Some Americans support the war and think that the Iraqis wanted to be freed or need to be freed. Others believe that we were intruding on the affairs of others and fear that we have created more enemies for ourselves. Is our perception of the world’s opinion of us correct or do we have a lot more enemies than we think? Did they hate us more before the war or after, or do they hate us at all?

Most of the world is involved in the war on terrorism involving different religious and ethnic groups in the Middle East. They have performed terrorist acts such as 9/11 to try to prove something to us. What are they trying to prove and what drives them to want to perform these terrorist acts on the US and the rest of the world?

American companies have been taking advantage of cheaper land and electricity in countries abroad to build factories, destroying natural landscaping and causing environmental issues, such as pollution.
Do foreign economic activities from the U.S. anger countries abroad?

Since the plummet of the twin towers Americans have developed a phobia of Muslims and Middle Easterners. All assaults so far committed against western civilization have been committed by radical Muslims, during the latest attempt to cause mayhem both men and women of different ethnicities were involved. The only common denominator among those who tried to plant liquid bombs on British planes was their religion. Are we targeting radical Muslims enough in our campaign for national security?

Since the events of Sep. 11, 2001, even more tension than that which was already present developed between many Muslims and the USA which leads the question, are all Muslims taught to hate western culture and more specifically the USA, or is this radical Muslims trying to speak for all of their religion?

Relationships between America and the world have been rough in history. More so in recant history has there been major argument and even war, therefore America has been not very well liked. Why are Americans hated and what have they done to deserve and get the hatred given towards Americans?

In the year of 2003 the U.S. declared war on Iraq, this war is also known as the second gulf war. The U.S. Military called this operation Iraqi freedom. Saddam was captured December 13th 2003 on a farm near Tikrit while the U.S. was on operation Red Dawn. Since we have not left Iraq after capturing Saddam, what has to happen in Iraq before the U.S. military can leave?
